Inspired by this year’s Nutrition Month Celebration theme, “Live right, work right, and eat right,” the VCIS students started the school year strong and healthy! Through a series of activities, they learned more about proper nutrition and how to take care of themselves.
Below are some of the highlights of the month-long celebration.
The Grades 1-3 students were asked to transform old socks into cute vegetable puppets. These puppets talked about their nutritional and health benefits. The puppet shows drew cheers and giggles from the other students, it was no surprise they were an instant hit!
NutriDance to Fitness
The Grades 4-6 students stomped their feet, clapped their hands, and danced their way to fitness. The superb performances left us in awe and inspired all students to launch into their own little happy dance after. Thanks to certified Zumba instructor, Ms. Kath Basto, everyone (staff, included) did a little Zumba, too!
Perry Round the World II Food Expo
The Perry Round the World II Food Expo was a food trip like no other. Dishes from Italy, Poland, India, China, and other nations were mixed with a generous helping of the dishes’ history and nutritional value; filling not only the students’ bellies, but also their minds.
The Grades 10 and 11 students turned the heat up in our pop-up kitchen and cooked delectable ampalaya dishes during the NutriChef competition. The dishes were so tasty and had no trace of bitterness, the taste-testers gobbled everything up! 🙂
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.” – Romans 12:1
